Ánu Organics Consultant Herbalist Nicola Darrell & members of the Irish Medical Herbalist Organisation (IMHO) provide in-depth training to retailers on our products which promotes public awareness and confidence in the safety of herbal medicines.

Nicola is a medical herbalist, aromatherapist and botanist with 5 years experience in plant biochemistry research. She is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, the oldest professional body for medical herbalists, established in 1864, and of the Irish Medical Herbalists Organisation, which is one of the constituent organisations of the Irish Herbal Council, an umbrella federation for professional organisations of herbal practitioner organisations in Ireland. She is an experienced practitioner of herbal medicine, regularly lectures and writes articles on the subject of   medicinal plants and served on the IMB Scientific Committee on the Regulation of Medicinal Herbal Products and the National Working Group on the Regulation of Complementary Therapists.

Retailer Trainers

Ánu Organics Retailer trainers are all members of the Irish Medical Herbalist Organisation.

Members of the Irish Medical Herbalists Organisation are trained in a western tradition of herbalism, are graduates of colleges accredited by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in the UK, a professional body established in 1864.

Training consists of three and four year degree (BSc) and diploma programmes of tuition and studies in the biomedical and clinical sciences , clinical examination and diagnosis, differential diagnosis and pharmacology. Throughout their training, medical herbalists study the art of herbalism and it's 'Materia Medica' including herbal therapeutic applications, safety and interactions, the making of herbal medicine, and plant identification and quality control. Other aspects of the training include nutrition, professional ethics and the therapeutic relationship. Each student of medical herbalism undergoes a minimum of 500 hours of clinical supervision wherein clinical and herbal studies are given extensive practical application.
